The New Education System in India 2020 introduced a 5+3+3+4 education system. The 5+3+3+4 education framework is a significant departure from India’s prior education system, which was a 10+2 system, but the number of years spent in each stage of education will be reduced.
The following is a full description of the new educational structure:
Foundational stage (5 Years) (KG, Std. 1 & 2)
The foundation stage will encompass a child’s first five years of education. Children will be educated in Anganwadi, balvatika, or community-based nurseries for the first three years of their education.
During the remaining two years of school, they will learn basic skills and knowledge on various levels through play-based and activity-based learning.
Preparatory Stage (3 years) (Std. 3,4,5)
The preparatory stage will run from ages 8 to 11 and will focus on foundational learning, such as establishing pupils ‘basic literacy and numeracy skills. The preparation stage will assist students in developing a knowledge of topics in a variety of subjects.
Middle Stage (3 Years) (Std. 6,7,8)
The middle stage will range from 11 to 14 years old. Students will be expected to achieve key academic skills such as reading, writing, and basic language competencies during the middle sage. They will also be expected to learn life skills including teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Secondary Stage (4 years) (Std. 9,10,11,12)
The secondary period will last from 14 to 18 years. Students will be expected to complete a core curriculum consisting of English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies during this stage.
They will also be able to choose from a variety of electives, such as languages, arts, and vocational studies. The secondary stage’s goal is to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to continue their education or enter the workforce.
